When you take a contract Apple is still more expensive. The only android brand I liked was Huawei but then they were banned by google so I had to go back to apple.

I never jumped to Apple/iPhone for that single reason, the lock-in strategy. Even though I think my Samsung or PC is lagging and I hear that Apple's alternatives are more stable (although less flexible and open to 3rd party software) I never swayed from my strong belief that lock-in just a losing game. It's morally wrong. I hope thet eventually get forced to change this.

On the one hand: yes it's a tragedy that phones don't include case, screen protector, headphones, charger, etc on the box. On the other hand: damn I'd be lying if I said I didn't like when I completely ignore the accessories that come in the box and just get a nice $20+ case with built in detachable and re-attachable screen protector that just makes the experience of using the phone daily 100% better, that offers 360 degree protection from all damage to your phone, with some handles/straps to keep your phone tethered to your hand so you'll never drop it. And some nice cheap but good value good audio quality wired earbuds that don't tangle with their little carrying pouch/case. And a nice long fast braided metal charging cable that won't break ever again, and a thick quick charging brick that feels really solid and smooth and satisfying to use and carry and won't fail on you. Damn I'd be lying if I said I didn't like third party phone accessories. For a device that's as personal and up close as a phone, for what's essentially a digital soul and a window to the world, that you use as much as you use your hands, damn would it be stupid not to make sure the experience of using it daily is better for cheap and for years.

My dad’s windows computer is way better though. Subnautica Below Zero lags quite a bit on the computer I mainly use, while it doesn’t lag one bit on my dad’s (and arctic peepers and bladderfish are easier to catch, and cryptosucheses are easier to scare)

that apple ad that basically fired shots at android saying apple was faster made me laugh. while apple can have decent chipsets, and are technologically faster, their ui and the fact their own fanbase wanting simplicity holding them back actually tends to make iphone feel slower and clunkier compared to android, let alone the closing off to the user. the essentially "dont worry, the phone will deal with it" attitude of apple infuriated me, but im getting offtopic. so yes, although the phones are faster, most likely no one will actually notice it outside of placebo effect.

So if companies want to extract money from the mass of people they now need to sell cheaper products. There aren't so many middle class that can afford luxury items.
